About Emmanuel
In my time with receiving and working towards both my master's and bachelor's degrees in music, I have learned about pedagogy to develop a musician academically, and have also developed my skills in piano playing in the last 9 years.
I earned my bachelor's degree in music production at UNC-Pembroke and am currently finishing my master's degree in jazz studies at North Carolina Central University.

Much like with any style of education, music education begins with inspiration and creativity. In these lessons, piano is an essential instrument for foundational music learning. In these lessons (mostly geared toward beginners) lessons will be divided into 3 parts:
1) Warm-Ups (scales, exercises)
2) Main Concept for the Week (etudes, musical excerpts, music theory)
3) Creativity Portion (songwriting)
These lessons are primarily open for beginners and intermediate levels students, but more advanced students are welcomed as well!

Perfect! I had been self teaching piano and music theory since retiring from medical practice 3 years ago. So I knew my age stubbornness and bad habits picked up were going to be a challenge to any teacher. In the past 3 months I've taken about 8 lessons from Emmanuel. Truth is it remains a work in progress but is definitely progressing. Clearly my goals and habits are different from usual young musician. Both Emmanuel and I are finding common grounds of the push and pull of my poor flexibility and his teaching fundamentals and correcting my bad habits. I have much enjoyed our interactions and improved my progress. Thank you Emmanuel.
