About Juan Manuel
My name is Juan Velez, McGill student in jazz performance. I am very passionate about jazz and all the styles that benefit from it. My years of music experience allowed me to develop a deep knowledge of jazz theory and harmony. However, my goal is to translate that knowledge into a form that is easy to understand and apply so that more people can enjoy the beauty of this music.

My methodology is based on the classic Bill Evans voicings for piano. This requires some previous knowledge about 7th chords. However, less advanced students are welcome to join and learn about the basic construction of jazz chords from zero. The more advanced students will learn how to add extensions to chords which will allow them to develop a rich and sophisticated harmonic vocabulary.
