About Eva
I am a 3rd year student at Durham University in Mathematics.
French is my native language. I was born in France and graduated from high school in France at 16 (with an average of 18.27/20) before moving to Canada at McGill university where I obtained a Bachelor of Commerce. After that, I spent a year studying for A-levels in Mathematics and Higher Mathematics (A+ and A respectively), before moving to Durham where I am currently enrolled in a BSc in Mathematics.
I have been giving lessons for 5 years in french/english and mathematics and have taught over 10 students. In my first year at Durham, I was giving French lessons to middle and high school kids in Durham. All of them have been very satisfied with my teaching method. In general, I have got great feedback from all my students; they have all achieved great grades because of my intuitive pedagogy.

I teach French to student from kindergarten up to Bachelor level.
My teaching method focuses on listening to the needs of the student. It is flexible and adaptable.
If the student has difficulties with homework assignments that have been given to him/her, we will start the session with these assignments. Instead of giving the answers directly, I try to get the student to understand by him/herself how to solve the exercise by explaining it in the most intuitive way possible.
In each session, we will focus on a particular exercise once the homework is done: version/theme, French comprehension and vocabulary/oral conversation.
As far as versions/themes are concerned, I teach the student to focus on the grammatical structure of the sentences, and from there to translate the text.
For French comprehension, every week I choose a text or video in French, preferably related to international news, which I have the student read or listen to and then ask him/her to give me a summary of the content. Afterwards, if he/she has not understood certain words, I translate them and have him/her write them down in a notebook where he/she records the new words learned.
For vocabulary and oral conversation, we will choose a topic and start a conversation in French about it. If the student stumbles over some words that he/she does not know, he/she will have to write them down in the word book. I will prepare in advance lists of vocabulary that he/she will have to learn and on which I will ask him/her questions.
