About Jacqleen
I have grown up in the music world all my life. I started playing when I was five and have never stopped. I attended an arts high school for four years and still play in college. I've performed countless concerts and have worked with some of the best classical pianists in the industry. Music is a great way to enrich one's life, it has been a big part of how I express myself and I am just excited to show kids how to express themselves through music. I'm not one of those strict, quick to anger, perfectionist teachers who is going to get impatient with a child. I've had teachers like that before and it never actually helped me improve. I will be as encouraging as possible and have extreme patience. Music is a language, learning a language is very difficult and everyone goes at their own pace. I am very understanding of that fact which is why I prioritize just being patient and helping students better understand the material rather than prioritizing how 'good' they get in a short amount of time. I want them to have fun!

I am a very patient person and work best with children from the 5-10 age range. I find it very exciting to show kids the world of music. I would usually start off with simply showing them the keys on the piano and the key names. Then from there slowly progress into learning scales/key signatures and sharps and flats and use children's piano books for them to learn simple songs.
