About Janet
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have many years of experience teaching French and German in secondary and primary schools and also at night school and within firms. I have taught all ages and abilities. My last teaching post within a school was between 2002 and 2007 at Birkenhead School, Wirral where I was Head of German. Since then I have concentrated on private one-to-one tuition for French, German and Piano. For the last 4 years I have taught Piano within a primary school and have also given lessons after school hours to pupils of all ages.

My current students have commented very favourably on the help and encouragement which I have given them. Those who have recently taken exams have gained very good results.

I am an enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher with many years of experience.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French, German and Piano, including Music Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Joint Honours degree in French and German from the University of Durham and a PGCE from Manchester University. I passed Grade 8 piano with merit at the age of 16.
- How much do you charge?
£26 per hour for languages for beginners, £28 for GCSE and £30 for A level. £13 per half hour lesson for piano or £26 per hour. The amount I charge for travel varies according to distance and travelling times.
- Where do you teach?
I normally teach in my own home in Hereford.
- When are you available?
I am available all day and evenings from Monday to Friday.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages in both Languages and Piano. Languages: beginners to A level. Piano: Beginners to Grade 7 Associated Board.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for GCSE and A level in French and German and up to Grade 7 Associated Board in Piano.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I really enjoy teaching students of all ages and seeing them improve and achieve their goals. I have a very high level in all aspects of French and German and am keen to pass on these skills to my students : I specialise in helping them to improve their speaking and writing abilities. Similarly, in Piano I derive great enjoyment from my own playing and am keen to inspire my students with the same level of enthusiasm.
