My first lesson is always about understanding the student level, needs and timelines, based on that I structure my pace and tailor lessons accordingly.
I'm very big fan of learning by doing, I think it's a very efficient way of teaching. I like to take my time when explaining new concepts and I'm not afraid to repeat my self as many times as the student needs to assure she / he understands the concepts at hand.
