About Tanner

I am longtime wrestler having competed for 20 of my 28 years. I began wrestling at the age of 8, and competed under Team Monday and the tutelage of 1988 Olympic Gold Medalists Kenny Monday in kid wrestling and all throughout HS. I graduated from Bishop a Lynch HS in East Dallas where I was a 4x state champion (never beaten in the state of Texas) as well as a National Prep Champion amassing a National HS record of 197 wins and 14 losses. The team I co-captained at Lynch in my senior season in 2010 was rated by WIN magazine as a Top-Twenty Team of the Century, nationally, in High School wrestling. I was fortunate to have earned scholarships which afforded me an educations and competitive career at the D1 level. I attended three universities in total: at Virginia Tech University I was coached by former Iowa national champion Kevin Dresser. At Cornell University FLWC I was coached by former North Carolina national champion Rob Koll. Finally, I earned my degree in Business Management and finished up my collegiate career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I was coached by former UNC national champion CD Mock. I was also trained and coached long term by legends like Olympic Gold Medalist Kendall Cross and Olympic Silver Medalist Jamil Kelly. I have competed overseas in Russia and Siberia on behalf of USA wrestling and Athletes-In-Action Christian ministries. I have been coached and trained by some of the very best to ever live, and I was fortunate enough to compete at the highest levels of the sport of wrestling against the best competition, year-in and year-our. Despite not accomplishing my collegiate aspirations of becoming an All-American and National Champion at the DI level due to many surgeries, as well as my Olympic aspirations to become a gold medalist, I remain very passionate about the sport and love to give back in any way that I am able. I am highly motivated and passionate at conveying the art of the mixed martial art of wrestling to students of all age groups from 4 years to college level. I possess a very diverse skill-set and winning mindset built for succeeding in the sport of wrestling. I enjoy teaching and feel I am very effective at passing on my accumen to my students. I have trained and coached several wrestlers to UIL state championships during my time coaching. I have been offering private technique sessions and weight-lifting sessions as well as mental-toughness/strategy guidance to students since the age of 14; so I am going on 15 years of experience in coaching and instructing in the sport of wrestling now. I am in the market to aid in transforming wrestlers into state and national champions, opening up doors of opportunity for higher-learning via scholarships, and for paying forward all of the wonderful knowledge I have been blessed to have received over my many years in the sport. Contact me for tailored 1 on 1 or coupled privates for wrestling technique, wrestling workouts, and weight-training catered to wrestlers. I look forward to working with you to guide your son/daughter to their highest potential in this amazing sport!

What I enjoy most about the work I do is giving back to the sport that has given me so much. Wrestling has made me into the man I am today and has afforded me so many amazing opportunities on and off the mat. It has taught me so much about life, about discipline, about drive and determination and concentrated power-of-will. It is one of my highest honors to pass on to my students this wonderful art of wrestling in all of its ups and downs intracies. I enjoy watching my students succeed and surpass their own expectations and goals. I enjoy the joy and glory that my students and their families feel when they accomplish things that open doors to amazing trajectories and potential opoortunities in their lives. I was born to wrestle, I was born to coach wrestling, and I am proud to honor the sport of wrestling as one of the most fundamental core backgrounds of mixed martial arts.

Teaching, IMO, is a fundamental aspect of honing your skills as a wrestler. Through religions and drills and technique polishing, over time, I began to understand that I had innate ability not only to pick up on lessons quickly but to translate and telegraph them effectively to my peers, and to younger wrestlers who would become athletes of mine.
