About Clifford

I'm a language teacher based in Nova Scotia. Outside of private tutoring I coach sports and I'm a mental health advocate — different settings, but the same thread runs through all of it: helping people feel capable. I enjoy meeting new people and learning about where they come from, which is really what drew me to languages in the first place.

I've learned a language from scratch as an adult myself, and that experience shapes how I teach — patiently, clearly, and without skipping the basics. My lessons follow a proper plan rather than an improvised chat, and students come to me for everything from their first words in French through to TCF Canada preparation. I enjoy this work, and I think that comes across in how the sessions feel

About the lesson

I teach French at every level, from complete beginners to exam preparation. My focus is on making the difficult parts simple and keeping lessons interactive — you speak from the first session, and we work through one point at a time with clear explanations in both English and French. Once you book, you also have access to the audio, video and self-guided practice materials I teach from, so you can keep working between our sessions.

My students include people starting from zero, learners who can already get by but want to speak more confidently, and TCF Canada candidates at every level. Having learned a language from scratch myself as an adult, I understand what the early stages feel like, and I keep lessons relaxed and enjoyable. The first lesson is free, so we can look at where you are and what you want to achieve.

Si vous préparez le TCF Canada et parlez déjà français, la difficulté est rarement le français lui-même. C'est la technique : concession, nominalisation, registre soutenu, connecteurs variés — souvent ce qui sépare un B2 d'un C1. Nous travaillons les neuf fonctions de l'expression écrite et les trois tâches orales sur de vrais sujets d'examen, avec des supports pour vous entraîner entre les séances. Première séance offerte
