About Catherine
I started tutoring when I was studying in Paris. I was teaching English and mathematics, while learning Swahili and Arabic. I moved to the UK in 1994 to be a French lectrice at Aberystwyth university, in Wales, for 3 years. And I have stayed on this beautiful Welsh coast since, being a private French tutor and providing students with internships in France. I have taught children GCSE and A Level French. I have prepared adults successfully for their DELF exams with a tight deadline. Some of my current students learn business French and others learn for their own pleasure. A bit about myself: I love words, languages and cultures. I am an avid reader in English and French. Yoga and dancing are part of my weekly routine (when possible). Keen on the outdoors, I travel as much as I can, always looking for the next adventure. I sailed across the Atlantic with the Clipper Race in 2017. And in the summer of 2019 I walked the Welsh coast footpath on my own for 350km, being hosted by fantastic strangers. I feel I have so much still to discover and so many other interesting people to encounter.

I teach students of all abilities, including complete beginners. I can support you in preparing for exams (GCSEs, A Levels, DELF, DALF) and coursework. And because I teach online, using Zoom, we can learn together wherever in the world you are. During our lessons, we’ll speak French as much as possible. I use written resources and audio and video to keep things interesting for you. Everything will be tailored to your personality and interests. And you’ll have things to practise between sessions, depending on how much time you have to study.
