I am a final year English Language undergrad student, assignments averaging at a First. I have been proof reading peers work for the past six years, and passionate about linguistics for the past two. Every person has their own way of learning, this needs to be considered when tutoring. There should be no rush to learn a set amount by a set time, but I also believe that efficiency is key - structure is a must when it comes to making progress, and it's okay if it doesn't come first time around.
With goals in mind on what it is that you want accomplished after a session, you are more likely to get to where you want to be.
The structure and organisation of a tutoring session, should be worked out between the pupil and tutor, in a way that can be the most beneficial for their learning style.
