About Jessica

I have been learning English since I was eleven years old and have now lived in Canada for ten years. English has indeed become my second language and I feel comfortable in all levels. Let me know what you are working on and I will work out a plan with you.

About the lesson

I am a graduate of Munich Medical School (2004) and of the Master's program in History at the University of Calgary (2016). I have regularly worked as a writing support tutor with undergraduates. Apart from general English, I am proficient in medical and historical vocabulary and ways of thinking. Moreover, I can support you with researching a topic for an essay and writing the paper. I usually spend the first two or three lessons in conversation with my students to learn about their life and interests or needs. From here, I will prepare lessons geared towards those needs, alternating between vocabulary training, listening comprehension, writing, grammar exercises, and speaking. Any ideas or hobbies that the student brings into the lesson are welcome and will be worked with.

I found Jessica through her profile on Superprof.ca. We worked together to study French.

Jessica is a patient and experienced language teacher. She was very interested in working at my level and provided gentle but consistent feedback.

One thing she really did well was provide resources and suggestions for practice and continued learning outside of our session, which I think is key to progress.

I really recommend her highly to anyone trying to learn one of the multiple languages that she teaches.

Jessica is a great teacher. I was trying to learn French and she was there to help and motivate me through the process. I struggled with pronunciation and she was kind to teach me the right way of pronouncing the words. Also she helped understand the grammar and taught me the correct way of making good sentences. Jessica is so knowledgeable , kind and helpful. My French has improved a lot!

Jessica has helped me for the past year with writing assistance when it comes to history papers, and every time she helps me feel immense clarity in my work and confident moving forward with submitting my papers! She points out my weak points and gives me advice on how to strengthen my work, and every time I ask for her help she ensures my papers get better. She is always there to help, even when she is busy and she is very friendly and very smart. I would 100% recommend Jessica for Superprof members, as she knows what she is talking about and will help you with anything and everything you may be unsure of. Thank you Jessica for all of your support and help!
