Hello! I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to guide and mentor students who are eager to explore the dynamic fields of Psychology, Computing Science, and Media Production. With a BSc(Hons) in Applied Psychology and Computing Science and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), my academic journey has been deeply intertwined with a practical understanding of how technology intersects with human behaviour. Additionally, my professional experience in film and TV, coupled with my role as a lecturer in BA Media Production at Bournemouth University, has enriched my ability to convey complex concepts through engaging and innovative methods.
I teach because I am passionate about igniting curiosity and fostering a deep understanding in my students. I believe in creating an environment where learning is not just about absorbing facts, but about making meaningful connections. My teaching approach combines the richness of applied psychology with the hands-on experience of computing science and media production. I focus on active learning techniques that engage students through practical applications and real-world examples. By incorporating a blend of theoretical instruction, interactive discussions, and project-based learning, I ensure that students not only understand the material but are able to apply it effectively. I utilize digital tools and multimedia to enhance learning, making complex concepts accessible and engaging. My goal is to foster a supportive and interactive environment where students feel empowered to explore and innovate.
Typical Length of a Lesson
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, which I've found to be optimal for covering material thoroughly while maintaining student engagement. However, I'm flexible and can adjust the duration based on the student’s needs and concentration abilities. For more intensive topics or projects, sessions can be extended or split into multiple shorter segments to maximize effectiveness and accommodate different learning paces.
Your Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor
I hold a BSc(Hons) in Applied Psychology and Computing Science, complemented by a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), specialising in teaching Psychology at both GCSE and A-Level. My academic background is enriched by extensive practical experience, having worked as a film and TV professional and as a lecturer in BA Media Production at Bournemouth University. This unique blend of psychology, technology, and media expertise enables me to offer a comprehensive tutoring experience that supports a wide range of learning objectives and styles.
