About Vicky
I am Swarnayan, a Hindustani Classical Vocalist with over 25 years of immersive training in the Bishnupur Gharana, under the guidance of Pt. Pranay Pathak since the age of four.
My musical understanding has been further enriched through exposure to the Maihar Gharana tradition, connected to the lineage of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia. This dual grounding has shaped my sensitivity toward gayaki-ang, raga architecture, tonal discipline, and nuanced improvisation.
Over the years, I have performed at respected cultural and academic platforms and guided students across age groups with a calm, structured, and lineage-conscious approach.
My teaching blends traditional parampara with analytical clarity — helping students build not only repertoire, but deep musical thinking, disciplined riyaaz habits, and long-term artistic confidence.
I believe classical music is cultivated gradually — through patience, structure, and attentive listening.

These lessons are designed for students who wish to study Hindustani Classical Vocal as a serious and structured art form.
Each session follows a progression-based system rooted in gharana tradition and long-term vocal development.
Foundation Phase
Students begin by developing:
1. Precise pitch alignment (microtonal awareness)
2. Breath control and tonal stability
3. Foundational alankars for technical strength
4. Listening discipline before performance
5. Strong voice before speed. Clarity before complexity.
Raga Development
Students gradually learn to understand and internalize:
1. Raga grammar (aroha–avaroha, pakad, chalan)
2. Swara relationships and resting notes (nyas)
3. Alaap expansion in slow tempo
4. Bhaav (emotional character) of each raga
5. Improvisation is taught as structured thinking — not random exploration.
Improvisation & Expansion
As students progress:
1. Taan construction methodology
2. Meend, gamak, kan and ornamentation
3. Foundational layakari (rhythmic awareness)
4. Vilambit and Drut khayal format
5. Students learn how to unfold a raga with integrity and confidence.
Personalized Riyaaz System
Every student receives:
1. A customized daily practice blueprint
2. Clear weekly developmental goals
3. Listening assignments to deepen musical sensitivity
