About Alexander
I am a professional French horn player and teacher based in Edinburgh. I studied Music at Queen's University Belfast and attained my Master's degree in Orchestral Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I have studied under Tim Thorpe (BBC National Orchestra of Wales), Angus West (Welsh National Opera) Paul Klein (Ulster Orchestra) and studied natural Horn under Anneke Scott. I have worked with professional ensembles including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera and Welsh National Opera. I have worked for several music services including Berkshire Maestros, Fife Music service and Renfrewshire Music Service as well as teaching privately for 8 years.

I am experienced in teaching individual, small group, and large group lessons on every brass instrument, but specialise in French horn up to post grade 8 level. I like to keep my lessons engaging, interactive, fast moving and most importantly... tailored to the individual student. I teach Music holistically, incorporating aural perception, critical listening and music theory and brass technique into every lesson.
