  • 1) Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

My passion for mathematics began in my early childhood. I remember the immense satisfaction of finding the correct answer to a sum, and that feeling ignited a deep curiosity. I've been captivated by the interplay of numbers and logic ever since. I discovered that mathematics permeates everything around us, and it's the very language that allows us to understand the universe through physics. That realization made both subjects indispensable to me, like my two eyes, each providing a unique perspective.
  • 2) What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My journey into the world of mathematics was guided by the remarkable educators in my primary school. Mrs. Alphonse, Mrs. Chitra, and Mrs. Sulochana laid a strong foundation, but it was Mr. Ramachandran, my mentor, whose teaching truly resonated with me. His ability to bring mathematical concepts to life through real-world examples made learning an absolute joy
  • 3) How does your work help society?

I love showing people that math isn't as tough as they think. I work with them, boost their confidence, and watch them transform from dreading math to loving it.

I have a passion for helping those who find mathematics challenging. I believe anyone can learn to love math. I work closely with my students.

One of my greatest joys is helping people overcome their fear of mathematics. I work patiently with them, building their confidence and demonstrating that math is understandable and even enjoyable. It's amazing to witness their transformation as they begin to not only understand math but also appreciate its beauty.
  • 4) If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

My father is my ultimate role model. He's a retired banker who dedicates his time to resolving issues for retired bank pensioners. At this age, his energy is remarkable; he's constantly learning, writing, and engaging with the world. His belief, 'if you can't, no one can,' has become my own personal mantra.

When I was in school, my father told me a story that has stayed with me ever since. A fighter pilot, downed and badly injured, with broken legs, faced impossible odds. He crawled, drank snow to survive, and through sheer willpower, communicated his location. He was saved, and amazingly, he flew again. That story taught me the power of the human spirit
  • 5) Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Reading books is a way for me to which broadens my horizons, while language learning opens up new cultures and perspectives. I find a creative outlet in sewing, and I also love to explore the world through different cooking styles, trying out recipes from various cuisines. One of my favourite hobbies is discovering and tasting unique and interesting foods
  • 6) Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

I had a student who came from a rural area and was very reserved, especially when it came to speaking English. He understood the language but struggled to express himself. However, his dedication to learning, particularly in math, was exceptional. He scored a remarkable 97% and is now thriving as an engineering student. It shows that passion and hard work can overcome any obstacle.

A student from Dubai, initially struggling with physics, achieved a remarkable 93% after just three months of my classes and is now an engineering graduate in Australia.

It's incredibly rewarding to see a student overcome academic hurdles. One such student, who struggled to pass her 10th-grade exams, achieved a significant 75% in her boards after we started working together after her half-yearly exams. Her passion for maths blossomed in 11th grade, where she secured 90%, and now, free from her previous fear, she enjoys the subject immensely. We are still on this journey together as she prepares for her 12th-grade exams.
