About Ioanna
I am a 20-year-old Greek student. Tradition called me to study in the UK, where research and adventure go hand-in-hand and where adventure is a prerequisite for the outstanding discoveries man has been making for centuries. Therefore, I now study at the the University of Hull and I am in the second year of my degree, Biology.
My IB (International Baccalaureate) tenure, during which three of my modules were Biology (Higher Level), English (Higher Level) and Modern Greek (Standard Level), taught me to see things from all angles and through different perspectives, cultures and ideas. Thus, for me, studying Biology goes beyond understanding the flesh and bones, it is to delve into the unknown areas of research that excite me the most.
In regards to my tutoring experience, for the last couple of years during summers, I have undertaken the role of an English and Biology mentor for children between the ages of 7 and 17, both individually and in groups. This experience has provided me with an understanding of what children within that age range need. For example, how to make them enjoy what they are learning and the time I need to invest in preparing for my lesson.
I am equally as passionate, confident and excited to teach older students and people who want to acquire knowledge in my field of studying, as well as Greek and English.
As Albert Einstein said, "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better". No matter how old my students are and what knowledge they have, my end goal is for them to acquire a deeper understanding of what they are learning. I love to enrich others' knowledge in all fields, especially in Biology, English, but also in Greek, my mother tongue, and ultimately inspire them to love the subjects as much as I do. "Knowledge is power, but enthusiasm pulls the switch".

Ioanna is a tutee of mine at the University of Hull and a fine, hard-working student. She has an excellent grasp of Biology and is well able to explain difficult concepts to other people and popular with both staff and fellow students
She helped me love and pass Biology in my GCSEs at the last minute when my knowledge was quite poor. Always organised and in time. My parents appreciated her honesty and effort!!!
She is a person that you can trust !Always caring and understanding. Such a shame I couldn't have her as a tutor during the winter in Greece, but she always spent time on Skype to help me with whatever I needed. She sacrificed her time at home or with friends to help me organise myself.
I always wondered how she could do so many things at the same time and be so passionate, excited and encouraging.
