About Valerie
"I teach because the rhythm of language connects us all. I admit that I cannot help but tap my foot when a student finally nails a tricky verb conjugation. My journey through the Australian Latin music scene informs how I teach accent and intonation to my students. I work with everyone from absolute beginners to those prepping for the DELE or IELTS exams.
Having 13 years of experience means I know exactly how to handle common stumbling blocks for intermediate and advanced learners. "Imagine sitting in a cafe while we discuss the subtle differences between Latin American and Castilian variants while you practice your listening skills. My approach relies on a steady pace that slowly layers new information until you feel comfortable speaking in full sentences. I use my Diploma of Music to help you hear the musicality in Spanish sentences and internalize the proper stress patterns. We focus on practical travel Spanish as well as the technical requirements for your exam prep needs.
