About Romi
Hi, I'm a guitar tutor with over 12 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a focus on guitar performance. My lessons are personalized to fit each student's goals, whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time or aiming for professional-level mastery. I specialize in fingerstyle playing, blues improvisation, expressive soloing techniques, and chordal theory that opens up the neck of the guitar in creative ways. I’ve taught students across a wide range of genres including rock, funk, jazz, and folk. I believe in helping every student develop both technique and musicality, so they not only play well but play with feeling. My approach is clear, supportive, and motivating, allowing students to learn with confidence and joy. Each lesson is designed to be engaging and practical, with a balance of skill-building and musical exploration. I pay close attention to rhythm, tone, and expressive dynamics to help you play with intention and depth. My teaching approach is centered on helping each student find their unique voice through the guitar. I believe learning guitar should be both structured and creative, so I balance technique with musical expression. I guide students through essential skills like chords, scales, and rhythm, while also diving deep into harmony, melodic phrasing, and tone control.
I place strong focus on fingerstyle techniques, helping learners develop independence and clarity in both hands. For those picking up the guitar later in life, I offer patient, step-by-step instruction that builds confidence and motivation. We also explore songwriting tools—learning how to build chord progressions, write lyrics, and match mood with music.
I encourage students to express themselves through dynamic playing, helping them shape their own musical stories. My lessons cover classical, acoustic, jazz, and electric guitar styles. I also support students in composing, improvising, and arranging songs for solo or group performance. We often break down famous songs to understand structure and emotion behind them. Every session is interactive, engaging, and tailored to bring out the artist in you.
