About Syifa
My journey as an educator began in university, where I found my true passion not just in solving complex equations, but in helping my peers master them. I spent much of my free time volunteering to teach mathematics lessons to fellow students, discovering early on that I had a natural gift for breaking down difficult concepts into logical, manageable steps.
Throughout my subsequent 13-year career, I continued to tutor part-time because of a deep-seated belief: every student is unique, and a customised approach is the only true path to excellence. I saw first-hand that classroom teaching often misses the reasoning gaps specific to an individual's way of thinking. This drive to provide tailored, one-to-one guidance eventually led me to transition into full-time tutoring. I realised that the impact I could make on a student’s confidence and grades through a personalised system was far greater than anything I could achieve in a traditional classroom setting.
As a former scholarship recipient with a 41-point IB score, I bring that same level of dedication and academic rigour to my full-time practice. Today, I specialise in navigating A-Level and Further Maths students through their most challenging exams by focusing entirely on their unique learning styles and goals. For me, tutoring isn't just a profession—it's a commitment to seeing every student reach their own version of excellence.

My approach is built on the Gradual Release Method, a technique I call "Passing the Baton." We begin with a clear, step-by-step explanation of the problem's logic, then move into a collaborative space where we solve it together through active two-way communication. Eventually, the "baton" is passed to you to lead the solution, ensuring you have mastered the concept independently.
You can view a sample of my teaching style and step-by-step working in the video attached to this profile. I regularly record walkthroughs of the most recent exam series (like June 2025) so students can see exactly how to dismantle the challenging questions.
Each virtual lesson is fully customisable; I adapt my pace and explanation style based on your unique conceptual blind spots. Beyond the theory, I show you practical "hacks" and tricks using the calculator to improve your speed and accuracy during high-stakes exams.
Lesson Structure
To ensure we can dive deep into complex topics without rushing, lessons are typically structured in 2-hour blocks. This duration is ideal for dismantling difficult problems and reinforcing the logic required for high-level mathematics.
Experience and Qualifications
I am a specialist personal mathematics tutor with 13 years of experience in the field. My career in education began as a school teacher in 2013, followed by a role as a pre-university tutor for a university in 2017. Since 2018, I have operated as a full-time 1-to-1 tutor catering to international syllabi.
My academic background includes achieving 41 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, which provides me with a high-level perspective on academic excellence. Over the past decade, I have successfully taught:

The Diagnostic Session (First 30 Minutes)
I offer the first 30 minutes free as a Mandatory Diagnostic Session. This is a strategic consultation designed to ensure we are a perfect fit before committing to a full block.
What we will do in this session:
Methodology Trial: We will work through one or two specific questions that you are currently struggling with. This allows you to experience my "Passing the Baton" technique first-hand and see if my teaching style fits your learning needs.
Identify Conceptual Blind Spots: We will pinpoint the exact reasoning gaps in your current approach to help focus our future sessions.
Strategic Mapping: We will discuss your target grade and identify which high-weightage topics (such as Matrices, Complex Numbers, or Hyperbolic Functions) we need to prioritise.
Package & Commitment Details
Further Mathematics requires deep focus. To ensure we have enough time to dismantle complex, high-tier "discriminator" questions without rushing the logic, all lessons are booked in 2-hour blocks.
Standard Rate: £37 per hour.
5-Hour Revision Pack (£175): Ideal for intensive focus on a specific module or upcoming mock exam. (Save £10)
