My Teaching Philosophy & Approach
I focus on genuine understanding over memorization. My goal is to meet you where you are, identify how you learn best, and build your confidence. Science doesn't have to be intimidating with clear explanations and the right approach, even the toughest concepts become manageable.
My Teaching Methods
Personalized learning: I diagnose your knowledge gaps and adapt to your learning style, whether you're visual, hands-on, or need real-world examples.
Active problem-solving: We work through practice questions together, applying concepts to actual exam scenarios so they stick.
Real-world connections: I use analogies and everyday examples to make abstract biology concrete and memorable.
Exam strategies: Beyond content, I teach you how to approach different question types and manage your time effectively.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
Check-in (5 min): Discuss what you're struggling with
Targeted teaching (20 min): Break down concepts with clear explanations and examples
Active practice (25 min): Work through problems together while I guide you
Wrap-up (5 min): Summarize key points and give study recommendations
Sessions are flexible, we spend time where you need it most.
What Sets Me Apart
My MD and PhD give me a unique perspective on biology from both clinical and research angles. I've spent years translating complex science for diverse audiences, so I know how to make difficult material click. Plus, I genuinely love those "aha!" moments when things finally make sense.
Who My Lessons Are For
High school students: General biology, AP Biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry
College students: Molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology
Pre-med/pre-health students: MCAT prep, medical school prerequisite courses
Anyone struggling with biology concepts or looking to build stronger foundations
Whether you're aiming for top grades, prepping for major exams, or just trying to survive your course, I'm here to help you succeed.
