About Cynthia
Fluency is often not about having a large vocabulary but about knowing how to use simple words to navigate difficult situations. I provide a custom study plan for your goals to ensure that our time spent on email writing or exam speaking practice is always efficient. You might think that studying for an English test requires endless memorization, yet I focus on patterns and idioms that stick. We will navigate the complexities of academic writing and everyday conversation by focusing on the mechanics of the language.
My background in linguistics allows me to explain grammar rules in ways that actually make sense for intermediate learners. I believe in a steady approach that emphasizes consistent improvement over rapid, stressful cramming. We will build your skills one step at a time through targeted practice. The smell of fresh paper and textbooks reminds me of the countless hours I have spent helping students sharpen their communication skills. My 15 years of experience in the classroom have taught me that every learner has a unique pace for acquiring complex English structures.
I hold an MA in Applied Linguistics and a CELTA which informs the way I break down phrasal verbs and academic writing for university applicants. Having worked with 312 students including immigrants and TOEFL candidates, I have seen the way language acquisition opens doors to new opportunities. My persona is the settlement services teacher who knows that language is the key to integration.
