About Rumela
Hello! I'm Rumela Dasgupta, currently pursuing a B.Sc. in Computer Science at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, along with the BS in Data Science and Applications from IIT Madras. I completed my schooling at Shri Shikshayatan School, where I developed a strong interest in mathematics, logical thinking, and computer science.
One of my proudest achievements was being the Class and State Topper in the International Informatics Olympiad (2023–24). Preparing for competitions and learning programming taught me that understanding concepts is far more valuable than memorizing them, and that's a principle I carry into my teaching.
Over the years, I've enjoyed helping classmates and junior students with programming, assignments, and exam preparation. Seeing someone finally understand a concept after struggling with it is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching for me. I believe every student has the potential to do well when they're taught with patience, encouragement, and the right approach.
As a student myself, I understand the pressure of exams and the challenges of learning new subjects. That's why I create a friendly and comfortable environment where students can ask questions freely without worrying about making mistakes. My goal is to help them build confidence, improve their problem-solving skills, and develop a genuine interest in learning.

Programming wasn't something I understood overnight, so I know how confusing it can feel when you're just starting. That's why I teach in a way that I would have liked to be taught—by breaking down difficult concepts into small, easy-to-follow steps instead of rushing through them.
In my classes, I first understand what the student already knows and where they're facing difficulties. I then explain the topic using simple examples before moving on to coding exercises or practice questions. I encourage students to think through problems on their own and guide them whenever they get stuck, rather than simply giving them the answer. This helps them become more confident and independent learners.
I mainly teach Computer Science, Python, and C Programming to school students from Classes 6 to 12. My classes are suitable for beginners as well as students who want extra help with school exams, assignments, or practical programming.
As a B.Sc. Computer Science student and a learner in the IIT Madras BS in Data Science & Applications program, I understand that learning is a continuous process. I bring that same mindset into my teaching by keeping my explanations practical, patient, and focused on building a strong foundation. My aim is not just to help students score well in exams but to help them enjoy learning and develop problem-solving skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom.
