About Elowen
I’m a French tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Master of Arts in French Language and Literature, with a focus on Francophone cultures. I love working with complete beginners and helping them feel at ease as they take their first steps into the French language. My teaching style is patient, friendly, and often sprinkled with humor to keep things light and enjoyable. I specialize in teaching French for creative hobbies and leisure activities like knitting, gardening, painting, and other hands-on passions. I use project-based learning to make lessons feel meaningful and engaging. Visual aids, everyday objects, and simple narratives help students connect new vocabulary with the activities they love. Grammar and sentence structure are taught in ways that feel natural and relevant to real life. Whether you want to describe your latest artwork, talk about your garden, or follow a French knitting pattern, I’m here to help you do that with confidence. My students often say they enjoy learning because they see progress in a context that matters to them. I believe language learning should spark joy and reflect your interests. Let’s discover how fun learning French can be—especially when it’s through the things you already enjoy.

My French teaching approach is lively, practical, and full of flavor—just like French cuisine. I focus on building real-world communication skills through active dialogue and role-play. Students learn how to use culinary terms, read menus, discuss recipes, and order food with ease in French-speaking environments. Each lesson is built around everyday dining situations, from casual cafés to fine dining experiences. We explore vocabulary, sentence structure, and cultural etiquette, all tied to food and conversation. My goal is to make speaking French feel as natural and enjoyable as sharing a meal. I work especially well with students preparing for exams or studying French academically, helping them develop fluency through specific, food-focused contexts. You’ll practice speaking with confidence, clarity, and cultural awareness. I also bring in listening activities and short reading passages about French gastronomy. Learning French can be delicious when we connect it with the world of food. If you’re ready to talk recipes, meals, and flavors in French, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
