I’m a guitar tutor with a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music, specializing in guitar. Over the past 12 years, I’ve gained experience playing and teaching a variety of styles, including rock, classical, folk, and blues. My academic training gives me a strong foundation in music theory and technique, which I blend with practical skills from real-world playing. I love helping both young learners and adults build their confidence on the guitar. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to improve your skills, I tailor my lessons to fit your goals. My teaching approach focuses on making guitar learning clear and enjoyable for all levels. I start by building a strong foundation with ergonomic techniques to ensure you play comfortably and avoid injury. We work on open chords and power chords to give you a versatile chord vocabulary. Finger dexterity exercises are an important part of my lessons, helping you gain speed and accuracy. I also include ear training to improve your musical listening and understanding. Theory is covered with practical examples, including Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature, so you understand how chords work in different keys.
For those interested in fingerstyle playing, I provide step-by-step guidance to develop finger independence and control. If you want to lead worship or play in a band, I focus on skills that help you support a group and play confidently. I believe in adapting lessons to fit your personal goals and musical style. Practice is always structured, with clear goals and feedback. You’ll learn not just to play songs, but to understand the guitar deeply. My goal is to help you grow your passion and excel in your chosen style. Learning guitar should be fun, rewarding, and something you look forward to every day.
