About Alyssa
I am a third-year student in Western University's Medical Science program, double majoring in Pharmacology and Biochemistry, with a strong foundation in the mathematical and scientific concepts at the core of the Ontario high school curriculum. My passion for teaching, combined with hands-on experience working with children and young adults, allows me to effectively communicate complex ideas in an accessible way. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to support the academic growth and development of students.

My academic background provides me with a deep understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts however, knowing course material is only part of the equation for an effective tutor; the capacity to teach is arguably more important.
As a previous bronze-cross swimming instructor and certified gymnastic coach, I have honed my ability to problem solve and break down concepts clearly and concisely for students with diverse learning abilities, styles and backgrounds. I foster a supportive learning environment where students feel
comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification which can be especially challenging for students who have been previously discouraged.
I greatly enjoy teaching and helping others find inspiration from learning new material. I believe tailored education, with manageable weekly and monthly goals, is the key to not only imparting knowledge but also promoting critical thinking, confidence and a love for learning. I aim to help students achieve their academic goals while instilling an enthusiasm for mathematics and science.
