About Ashok
I grew up learning English through naturalization, indulging myself into the English-speaking world day by day a little more than the last one, developing an American accent in the process. I never took any professional classes for it.
So when I wanted to learn French, I sort of did the same. I learned the basics through a professional and then went on my own to discover the French-speaking world. And I discovered quite a lot! There are resources that I have gathered in my long journey of six years that I can’t wait to share with you.
The reason for me to begin teaching is pretty simple. There’s a lot that gets lost in a professional setting within the constraints of an academic curriculum. But I want you to explore the language. I want you to feel it. The way I did, by discovering something new about it every single day.

TENETS OF NATURALIZING FRENCH
1. “de” is a very important word in French. You’ll see it often.
2. Grammar is important. It will make you more confident in speaking French. Hence, we’ll focus on grammar first. The vocabulary will build as we go along.
3. A child learns to speak first, then write. Hence, the idea is to speak fluently even though it’s not polished. The articulation can come later.
4. It’s important to understand how native speakers link sentences in verbal speech, how they take pauses, word omissions and contractions.
- This is something that you’ll be taught about very little in professional classes. It can only be taught by someone who has talked with native speakers and understands what works in real life and what doesn’t. This is where I come in and where my USP lies.
5. Listening and Reading are passive activities that should be done together. Speaking and Writing are active activities that should be done together as well.
6. For jobs, they don’t ask you to show your language proficiency certificate. They simply check your fluency. If you aren’t, you’re out!
- I have been in the French corporate sector working for multinational companies like Amazon, international travel processes talking to clients from France, Canada, Africa and other francophone countries. The most important thing is, they don’t speak like you read in the books so ask yourself why should you learn what is in the books?
7. People often say there is no shortcut to speak French fluently.
- Kind of. With the number of resources, shortcuts and personal experiences that I have gathered, I can confidently say that there are certain ways to fast-track your learning.
8. Internalizing situations in spoken French will make learning faster. How do we do this? I'll explain to you.
9. French resources that are linked to your interests will make you learn faster. You like Spider-Man? I pull out Spider-Man PS4 in French. You like to discuss movies? We watch a movie scene and discuss the particularities, in French of course. The idea is to start speaking as soon as possible even though unpolished.
10. The classes will be interactive, which means we would be having discussions as you would have with a friend of yours. Imagine yourself simply asking: oh, so you mean we can speak it like this? That sounds way simpler.
I am not here to compete with the rest of the teachers. They're probably more qualified than I am. But I can guarantee that the learning will be fun and my goal is to make you understand conversational French that I have learned through trial-and-error over the years.
So this experience is for you if you’d like to speak with natives, have a slang-ish grasp of the language, or just browsing casually. This experience might not be for you if you are aiming for a more professional French, although it can significantly help in that too!
To put it simply, I don't teach you the French you need to pass a French class. I teach you the French you need when a French person actually starts talking to you.
Currently admitting A1-A2 learners. Thank you!
