About Chris
Hi, my name is Chris Basener, and I help guitarists improve their ability to express themselves musically—going beyond just recycling the same old licks and running up and down scales.
As a Munich Guitar Institute graduate, solo artist, and founder of JUNKYARD REBEL, I’ve performed across Europe, played Wembley Arena, and rocked major festivals. My music has been featured on BBC, Comedy Central, ITV+, and more, and I’ve authored guitar books and courses to help players sharpen their phrasing, playing technique, and melodic instincts.

In my 30-minute online lessons (£35), we’ll focus on the techniques and concepts that will have the biggest impact on your lead playing—whether it’s refining phrasing, improving speed and fluidity, crafting better solos, or mastering expressive techniques like bends and vibrato.
My teaching is based on years of experience as a performer, my training as a Munich Guitar Institute graduate, and the methods I’ve developed in my guitar books and courses.
