About Vrinda
I'm Vrinda, a Math teacher with 3+ years of experience teaching middle and high school (grades 6 to 12 - Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry) per the US Common Core State Standards curriculum. I also prepare curriculum files and video notes for Algebra 1 and Algebra 2.
I have taught students from USCC (USA), IB Board (Switzerland), CBSE Board (India), and ICSE Board (India) throughout the last 5 years and have been teaching only US students for the last 3+ years.
One of my students got 98th and 99th percentile in grade 8 and Algebra 1 STAAR exam in 2021 and 2022.
I have designed my curriculum using multiple sources like IXL and Khan Academy.

1. First 2 minutes - Rapport building with my students
I believe it's of utmost importance to create a bond with my students so that he/she feels comfortable and does not hesitate to ask questions/doubts.
2. Next 5 minutes - Critical Thinking Question/Interesting Math Trivia
I start every class with a puzzle or previous years' competitive exams' questions (STAAR, Math KANGAROO, SAT, etc.) Starting a class with such discussions make students think outside of the box, and they look forward to taking more challenging questions further in the class. I paste the question on the board and set a timer for 5 minutes. Once the 5 minutes end, I ask the student to explain it - whatever they can.
3. Next 30 minutes - Topic of the Day
Then we spend a good 30 to 35 minutes learning a new topic and practicing 2-3 questions on the same.
4. Next 15 minutes - Homework Review
In the next 15-20 minutes, I review the last class' homework and clarify doubts.
5. Next 5 minutes - Wrapping up and assigning homework
In the last 5 minutes, I assign homework based on the lesson/topic we did in the present class, and we bid good-byes for the day.
