About Ginela
I am a singer and performer who learned to play acoustic guitar in order to accompany myself for performances. I studied at Metalworks Institute of Sound and Music Production as a Vocal Performance and Technology Major and I have been working on building my music career ever since. I taught Guitar, Piano, Voice and Ukelele at Rock This Way School of Rock in Oakville for over 5 years, but now I am branching out in search of my own students to connect with and mentor.

I get down to the level where you are at and put myself in your shoes. Your comfort level always matters; from the length of your fingers (short or long), to your understanding of rhythm and timing, to how confusing the guitar frets or piano keys can be, and so on. I have been there before because I taught myself guitar and piano, so I get it's frustrating to get going!
I sometimes use stickers on the fretboard or piano keys to mark where I need to go next. Or I make fun of the chord shapes and give them a silly name in order to remember them better!
Another great tip is using Youtube in order to practice along to a song with at a comfortable speed because it lets you slow it down! Then when you're ready bringing it back up the the actual speed to see how well you do at it.
I mostly use chord charts with less sheet music and music theory involved. I do my best to colour-code chords, riffs, and important notes because I myself am a visual learner. If you are looking for a more
"Royal Conservatory of Music" type of training, then I would suggest trying other teachers who are better suited for that.
When it comes to vocals, I am passionate for powerful real and raw voices and RnB music. But I am happy to work on the songs and singers that the student loves, even when it's not my preferred genre. My specialty is making sure that you get a good understanding of "vocal runs" because I feel that those help to accelerate your vocal ability in a shorter amount of time. I will also focus on major things like tone, vocal range, ear training, and stylistic technique. The voice is my favourite thing to teach!
