About James
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and was awarded Best in Thesis Defense during my university studies. My academic training has given me a deep understanding of motivation, learning behavior, and communication — skills that help me connect with students and support their growth effectively. I have been an online English tutor since 2017, teaching learners from beginner to advanced levels across different age groups and cultural backgrounds. Over the years, I have developed a teaching approach that is interactive, comprehensive, and goal-oriented, ensuring that students not only learn the rules of English but also gain the confidence to use them in real-life situations. My lessons are grammar-focused yet fun and engaging, balancing structure with creativity. I encourage open discussions on various topics to help students develop fluency, critical thinking, and conversational skills. I believe that learning English should be enjoyable, and I often integrate interesting themes, media, and everyday topics to make lessons both educational and relevant. Having handled advanced English learners, I specialize in refining pronunciation, grammar accuracy, vocabulary use, and natural expression. For beginners, I focus on building a strong foundation in listening, reading, writing, and speaking, while maintaining a patient and supportive environment. I always remind my students that asking questions is a key part of learning. I value curiosity and interaction in every session, encouraging students to express themselves freely and think critically about language. Outside of teaching, I enjoy watching movies, TV series, and anime, playing computer games, and practicing the violin. With over eight years of experience as a Senior Administrative and Financial Planning Assistant and my current studies in the Social Service Worker program at Fanshawe College in Canada, I bring a diverse and well-rounded perspective to my classes.
