About Karen
As someone who has taught violin for six years, I am very accommodating to the students' goals. I realize that some want to learn violin as a hobby while others might want some tips for sending in audition tapes for universities. In addition, some students might want extra guidance in their practice time outside of their formal in-person instruction while others might want advice for concerto competitions. I am mindful of what these goals are and do my best to help students reach them.

I have experience teaching violin to wide range of students-- from Kindergarteners to an elder woman. Growing up with a mother who is a professional violinist and violin teacher, I have learned how to guide beginners through the Suzuki method, scales, and special techniques. I can pace the lesson based on the desires of my students and help students achieve varying goals. As one who has obtained awards in several young artist competitions, I can also provide feedback for those who are trying to advance at a high level. A typical lesson for my students would include a warmup that often includes scales and arpeggios, a run through of the piece that the student is working on, and additional exercises that may be especially applicable to the student's current piece.
