About Bailey
Bailey Wantuch shares her passion for classical music through creative performances and thoughtful violin pedagogy. Her musicianship and teaching artistry have brought her from the US and Canada to Africa, Europe, Latin America, and South America. As an avid chamber musician, she founded the ensemble Quatuor Æternum in Germany in 2019. Previously, her piano trio won first prize at the 2017-18 McGill University Chamber Music Competition. In addition to performing, Wantuch has taught at schools worldwide including Cuerdas Frotadas Osorno (Chile), La Escuela Superior de Música de la UJED (Mexico), and El Sistema Kenya. Devoted to the intersection of social change and music education, she completed the Global Leaders Program, a year-long certificate program for socially-minded musicians and teaching artists. Wantuch is pursuing a Doctorate of Music in Performance Studies at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music under the guidance of Violaine Melançon. She holds a Master of Music from McGill, as well as a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University, where she studied with Blair Milton.

My teaching style, although informed by the Suzuki method, is holistic. Every student follows a different course of materials based on their own goals with the instrument, physical and mental needs, strengths, and weaknesses. Some common elements discussed with all students are left hand efficiency, ergonomic positioning of the bow arm, historical performance practice, and interpretation. I owe much of my teaching inspiration to my own former teachers.

Perfect! I am an adult learner, completely new to violin and am thrilled to be taking lessons twice a week with Bailey. Bailey’s profound knowledge of the Suzuki method and acute attention to detail are both highly impressive and motivating. Most importantly, her careful approach to teaching makes this new challenge both approachable and a delightful experience!

I always look forward to my lessons with Bailey. While challenging, they’re always fun and I leave feeling encouraged to practice. In my short time with her, I’ve made great progress both in my technique and musicality, and I’m truly excited about my development in the months ahead.
I am an older (68 y/o) adult beginner violin student who has been taking weekly lessons with Bailey for more than a year now.
She is a wonderful teacher who makes insightful observations that have greatly helped me to become a better player. She gently pushes me to challenge myself, and is very encouraging when I face hurdles in the learning process.
Bailey is easy to talk with, reliable and flexible, and she goes out of her way to ensure her students' needs are met. I recommend her as a violin teacher, without reservation.
