About Blair
I started violin at age 6, studying under a number of world-class teachers including Sebastian Muller, Prof. Yair Kless, Michael Malmgreen, Milan Vitek, Soon-Mi Chung, Mauricio Fuks and Detlef Hahn.
Attending the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, I was lucky enough to develop my abilities across a range of studies, pursuing both classical and jazz piano, conducting and composition.
Receiving a BMus (Hons) from the Royal Northern College of Music, I led ensembles including RNCM String Orchestra, Session Orchestra and was a founding member of the UnHeard Hybrid Orchestra and John Phillips Quartet.
Currently undergoing a Master's in Live Electronics at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, I am exploring the combination of my traditional instrument with live electronic extensions. It goes without saying that I've had a wonderfully broad exposure to music which has led to many of my life's most memorable experiences. I truly hope to instil a passion in my pupils, not only for music but the creative world as a whole!

With a strong passion for both contemporary and classical repertoire, I prioritize creating a supportive environment where you can confidently explore your musical creativity. As your teacher, I aim to empower you to discover new styles while staying grounded in foundational techniques.
I'm trained in both Suzuki and Alexander Technique alongside extensive experience with most classical etudes such as Kreutzer, Rode etc.
If you're motivated and eager to learn, I'd be delighted to work with you. My teaching methods are wholly flexible and tailored to your unique learning style, ensuring a deeply rewarding experience.

After not playing the violin since I was 10, I was keen to pick it back up as a different way to challenge myself next to my criminology studies in Amsterdam. Blair was recommended to me through a mutual friend who studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and I am very happy that she did! His teaching style is friendly and supportive, but also challenging in an encouraging way. I wasn't sure exactly what type of music I wanted to play (since it has been so long), but Blair assured me that this wasn't a problem. He focused on teaching me a strong fundamental basis, which I can use in different directions as I am figuring out my preference. I would recommend Blair for anyone who is interested in playing the violin, whether as a complete beginner or as someone looking to better their technique :)
