About Lesley
I taught high school English full-time at a prestigious college preparatory school for 8+ years and was a college adjunct English instructor for about a decade prior at private and community colleges around the LA area. I will be returning to graduate school for my MFA in Creative Writing this fall in Long Beach, where my focus is on prose. I enjoy teaching and am seeking a few students to guide through their writing needs and college apps while I am going to school. I love working with neurodivergent students or “non-traditional” learners. In addition to my upcoming program, I have advanced degrees in both English and Psychology.

I offer a step-by-step approach for writers of all ages and comfort levels, with an expertise in personal narrative and literary analysis. I’m a nurturing, playful, and supportive teacher. I enjoy working with students who do not typically think of themselves as readers or writers and helping them discover their voices on the page. My students would describe me as funny, knowledgeable, and approachable. I am also going back to school after many years as a teacher, so I can offer unique insights having had both experiences.
