I listen, I take note, and I adapt according to the person. Programming in a real context requires research, so the important thing is to learn how to learn. I therefore prefer to let the student research and discover by themselves and then to nudge them in the right direction while remaining available and open to any questions.
For beginners, I prepare practical exercises by giving my own work as an example beforehand; it is through practical experience that we learn.
For those who need help with homework or projects, I explore solutions with them and put my experience at their disposal so that they can move in the right direction.
