About Sebastián
More than an engineer, I am passionate about teaching and science.
I am a Computer Science Engineer, graduated from the Federico Santa María Technical University (USM). During my studies, I fell in love with physics and pure mathematics, eventually amassing an extensive technical library (Springer) and delving into advanced topics out of pure passion.
My Philosophy: "The teacher at the service of the student." I firmly believe that the role of the teacher is to serve the student. This means that I will adapt to your pace, but I will push you to your limits because I know you can achieve more.
What can you expect from me?
1. Purposeful Challenges: I will be very honest; my exercises are intentionally difficult. I'm not aiming for you to pass by chance; I'm aiming to develop your critical thinking. I want to push your intellectual boundaries so that university exams seem manageable.
2. Understanding over Evaluation: I don't care about your previous grades. If I see you putting in the effort, I will work tirelessly with you until you understand. I never ignore a student's hard work.
3. Real-world context: I will always explain the relevance of what you learn. Physics explains the universe, and I will teach you to see it that way.
My promise: I greatly enjoy the challenge of explaining difficult concepts in a simple way. If you put in the effort, I will dedicate 100% of my energy to helping you achieve your goals.

Do you feel like in Physics you're just applying formulas without understanding what they mean?
Physics and calculus aren't about memorizing equations; they're about modeling reality. My methodology aims to break with traditional teaching:
1. No Memorization: I will forbid you from memorizing formulas until you understand them. I will teach you how to derive them and understand the underlying physical concept (Why is energy conserved? What does an integral really mean?).
2. University Rigor: I use internationally recognized sources (my personal collection includes texts from Springer, Cambridge, and Resnick). If you're studying engineering, I'll prepare you for the actual level of rigor in your exams.
3. Critical Thinking: We will solve complex problems step by step, analyzing not only the "how" but also the "why."
Subjects I teach:
- Physics: Classical Mechanics (Newtonian, Lagrangian), Electromagnetism, Waves.
- Mathematics: Differential and Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra.
