About Gaoyang
I am a recent doctoral graduate specializing in physical oceanography. I hold a good GPA record for maths and physics-related courses (A+ for multivariate calculus, differential equations, dynamical systems, statistics, theoretical mechanics, fluid mechanics, meteorology etc.), and have had experience tutoring a university course on Environmental Modelling in both a classroom setting and in one-on-one sessions, with good feedback from students. More details about me can be found at: (concealed information)
I'm currently doing secondary teaching training (so I have had some classroom teaching experience) and aims to be a maths and physics teacher soon. There has been a long tradition of pursuing teaching careers in my family and it was a very touching moment to see my grandma's (who taught high school math) former students come to visit her when she was recovering from a surgery. Seeing how you have the potential to help someone to change their life for the better is the most rewarding part of this career.
My own research focused on turbulence and sediment transport in coastal oceans, where math tools (pencil-and-paper derivations and numerical models) are heavily involved. (ResearchGate: (concealed information)

Perfect! Excellent tutor! I have been with him for nearly 2 years now and he truly goes above and beyond to help you understand very complicated math and physics concepts!
- Matthew is very dilligent and he is eager to ask good conceptual questions. It has been an immense pleasure to have worked with Matthew. Much of the credit in his good review of me can also go to himself :)Gaoyang's response :
Perfect! Gaoyang has been an excellent tutor for our son in calculus and other ncea math topics. Great methods and approach, patient. Highly recommended.
Perfect! Gaoyang was an excellent tutor at explaining complicated questions and allowed me to understand each one fully. He was very prepared and I enjoyed learning from him.
Perfect! It was a pleasure to have you to explain things to me.
- Need to polish some basic skills; moving around terms in an equation, try to be less distracted by the coefficients in complicated equations, etc.Gaoyang's response :
