About Sophie
Hi! I'm Sophie, a recent graduate from the Software Engineering program at the University of Waterloo. I attended the TOPS (Talented Offerings for Programs in the Sciences) program during high school with a 98% average, and received offers from all engineering, mathematics, and computer science programs I applied to in Canada, including Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, Engineering Science at UofT, and Computer Science at UBC.
Outside of school, I love to travel. I've worked 6 different internships as a Software Engineer, leading me to live in places like Vancouver and New York City. I spent a semester abroad in Madrid when I traveled all over Europe, and I just got back from a tour across Asia! I also love drawing, reading, and trying out new recipes :)

Looking back on my academic journey, I realized how valuable learning to code early was to my success in Software Engineering and my internships in the tech industry. This inspired me to help students build strong programming fundamentals, develop problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in coding.
I offer personalized online coding lessons for middle school, high school, and beginner university students. Whether you're taking a computer science course, working on assignments, preparing for programming contests, or learning to code for the first time, I focus on clear explanations and hands-on problem solving. My goal is not only to help students complete their assignments, but also to help them understand concepts deeply and become independent programmers.
In addition to coding tutoring, I can offer guidance on course selection, programming projects, and preparing for competitive university programs such as engineering and computer science.
