About Faiza
Hi! I’m Faiza, a University of Toronto student who genuinely enjoys teaching and mentoring students. I aim to create a friendly, supportive learning space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence at their own pace.
I’m very organized and come to each lesson prepared with a clear plan, but I always adapt based on how the student is feeling and learning that day. I focus on explaining concepts in a simple, relatable way and guiding students step by step until things truly make sense. I believe learning works best when students feel encouraged, not pressured.
Beyond academics, I try to mentor students by helping them develop good study habits, confidence, and independent problem-solving skills. My goal is not just to help with one topic or test, but to support students in becoming more confident and capable learners overall.

My name is Faiza, and my approach as a tutor is centered on building strong conceptual understanding, confidence, and independent problem-solving skills. I believe students perform best when they truly understand why something works, rather than memorizing steps, so I focus on clear explanations and guided practice.
My teaching methodology combines structured lessons with personalized support. I begin by assessing a student’s current understanding and identifying specific gaps. I then explain concepts step by step, using examples and analogies appropriate to the student’s level. I regularly check for understanding, encourage questions, and adapt my pace and explanations to suit each learner’s style.
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of previous material, followed by focused instruction on new concepts. I then work through guided examples with the student before moving on to independent practice questions. I often create customized practice problems, summaries, and revision strategies, and end each session by clarifying key takeaways and outlining next steps.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my academic experience and attention to detail. As a Teaching Assistant for A Level Physics, I have graded and reviewed a large volume of examination scripts and designed assessment materials, which has given me strong insight into common student mistakes and effective exam techniques. I bring this perspective into my tutoring by helping students think critically, avoid common errors, and approach assessments with confidence.
My lessons are suited for middle school to high school students, including those following the Grade 6 Cambridge curriculum, as well as students seeking support in Chemistry, Biology, Math, and introductory Physics. I offer structured, supportive online lessons for students who want to strengthen foundations, prepare for exams, or improve overall academic performance.
