About Leah
Hello! My name is Leah and I am a university student studying Economics and Maths at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I am originally from Manchester, and have lived in London for the past 2 years.
My main experience with tutoring is with a young boy, age 7, in primary maths for around a year. He particularly struggled with grasping the basics of maths such as his timestables. This particular child had a learning difficulty and found it difficult to keep concentrated on his work. I could tell after just one session with him that he was very overactive, so I tailored my tutoring techniques to this. I created interactive games for him to guide in the learning process. For example: the most useful game we found was playing times tables hopscotch. After just a few sessions of this I saw an enormous improvement in his times tables ability.
I also have experience being a peer mentor for a small group of students studying their GCSEs as well as experience in guidance for the 11+ exam.
Overall, I believe it is very important to offer an interactive and tailored service to all children and that this is the most effective way for young minds to develop. This is why my teaching style is very unique and (i have found) very effective.
