About Mia
Hi, I’m Mia, a university student studying in the United States after completing my education in the UK. I specialize in History and English, and I have strong experience with essay writing, exam preparation, and coursework support, particularly at GCSE and A-Level.
I understand how stressful school can feel, especially when it comes to structuring essays or preparing for exams, so I focus on making things clear, simple, and manageable. My approach as a tutor is focused on making learning clear, manageable, and confidence-building. In terms of teaching methods, I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, easy-to-understand steps. I use a mix of explanation, discussion, and practice. For subjects like History and English, I help students develop strong analytical skills by guiding them through how to structure answers, use evidence effectively, and understand key concepts rather than just memorizing information. I also use examples, model answers, and step-by-step walkthroughs to show exactly what examiners are looking for.
A typical lesson usually starts with a quick recap of previous material to reinforce learning. Then we move on to the main topic, where I explain key ideas and work through examples together. After that, the student will complete practice questions or tasks, with my support and feedback throughout. I always finish with a short review and tips for improvement so students leave the lesson knowing exactly what they’ve learned and what to focus on next.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I combine academic knowledge with a relatable and encouraging approach. As a current university student, I understand the pressures of exams and coursework, and I know what works because I’ve recently been through it myself. I also focus on building confidence, not just improving grades, so students feel more capable and independent over time.
