About Alex
Hi, I'm Alex!
I'm a third-year international university student studying a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science at the University of Sheffield.
I love helping students to realise their own individual learning goals. As someone who was tutored in school, I know how important it is to create an engaging and supportive learning environment when tutoring.
I’ve worked with a wide range of different students, from those who are struggling with classwork to those who are wanting to extend themselves.
My main areas of expertise are English, mathematics, science and history; however, I’ve been a tutor for a number of different subjects. From geography to business studies, drama to physical education- and everything in between!
My students have enjoyed a number of benefits of tutoring including higher grades and greater confidence in their work. I have had senior students who, thanks to tutoring, were able to attend their desired college and that has been wonderfully affirming.

My teaching method involves a combination of activities to build long-term skills, as well as assisting students with assignments and classwork from school.
I work to establish the level at which my students are achieving, and from this I formulate an individual learning plan for them which takes into consideration their own learning goals.
My lessons are structured, but remain flexible enough so that older students with assignments can feel as though they are getting the full benefit from tutoring. I also spend a certain time each lesson working on time management and organisational skills to ensure that the time we do spend together is as productive as possible.
