About Kevin

Pursuing a law degree at the University of Oxford, I have a strong grasp of rhetoric in argumentation, persuasion, and public speaking. Working on doctoral research projects at the University of Toronto, I am consummate in academic writing, scholarly research, and the university application process. I also have extensive knowledge of English literature, with a focus on Shakespeare, Dickens, John Milton, and Alexander Pope. My past students went on to study at elite universities around the world, including Stanford, Yale, Columbia, UPenn, and Oxford.

About the lesson

My tutorials do not adhere to a rigid curriculum. I challenge my students through dialogue and questions, prompting them to think and argue on their feet. Under my guidance, elementary and secondary students learn to tackle complex issues from contrasting perspectives, developing an analytical and critical mindset. I value textual understanding and close emulation of famous literature. At my tutorials, samples from poets and writers guide students to form proper style and structure.

Perfect! Kevin is a thoughtful and patient tutor. Even after just one session, we were very impressed by both his teaching approach and his manner. He is calm, polite, and easy to talk to, which helped my child feel comfortable and engaged right away. He also comes across as very thoughtful and mature in his thinking, which brings clarity and structure to his guidance. His communication is precise and articulate—almost like a lawyer—which further enhances the way he explains ideas.

He uses insightful, open-ended questions to guide students to think independently, rather than simply providing answers. He also took the time to explain the purpose of writing, helping my child understand not just how to write, but why we write, which I found especially valuable. In addition, he is very good at breaking down larger writing tasks into clear, manageable steps, making the process much less overwhelming.

Overall, it was a very positive first experience. Kevin creates a supportive and structured learning environment, and I feel very comfortable entrusting my child’s learning to him. We look forward to continuing with him.

Kevin is a great English tutor who has helped me with my essays many times and made a big difference in how I write. He makes ideas clear, helps you organize your thoughts, and shows you exactly how to make your essays better one step at a time. He goes over each part of the essay very carefully and gives you feedback that really helps you learn and get better at writing. I learned how to organize my essays better, use better words, and make my points clearer and more convincing thanks to his advice. With his help, my English grades went up a lot, and I feel a lot more sure of myself when I write essays now. I strongly suggest Kevin to anyone who needs a tutor who is helpful, knowledgeable, and really wants to help students do well.

Kevin is a great tutor for people looking to improve their writing, vocabulary, and essay structure. I had been writing an essay for school, and together we would go through what I wrote, where he pointed out issues, explaining them clearly and gave ways I could improve on my weak spots. After working with me, I had improved greatly as a writer. He is also very open to suggestions, and doesn't force only one way of writing on you. I would greatly recommend.
