About Joe
I am a 24-year-old physics PhD student from the University of Liverpool, looking to tutor A-Level students in Maths, and Physics. Alongside my undergraduate degree at the University of Surrey, I tutored GCSE Maths and Physics for a year. Each of my students received grades 8-9 in the subjects they studied with me. At A-level, I volunteered to assist struggling year 7's and 8's with their reading ability every Wednesday morning. This included helping students with various learning disabilities. I tutored other A-level physics students whilst in sixth form, assisting them with areas that they struggled with. As an active academic student, I hope to provide inspiration and experience to my students hoping to go into STEM subjects. A fundamental aspect of being a researcher is the sharing of knowledge. I wish to help students starting their journey to University, and provide them with a head start at higher education.

I aim to deliver a patient, supportive, and friendly approach to my lessons and hope to bring a true understanding of the subject matter in addition to helping students achieve their goals. Having personal experience with both the current Maths & Physics syllabuses provides me with a distinct understanding of the subject matter and an empathetic view of the challenges students face. I am looking to share my knowledge of my subject with the younger generation in hopes of inspiring them to study a STEM subject at a higher level of education. With the correct direction, anyone can achieve the grades that they want or need to progress with their future plans.

Joe undertook a year in industry placement with our company with myself as his main supervisor, and has since returned to do a PhD with us. He was really enthused by seeing the applications of the physics and maths he was studying, and passes on that passion and experience in his tutoring. He had to adjust to a very different environment during the year in industry and was always personable and able to work well alongside all levels of experience. Joe is a hard worker and takes the time to understand other people's view, which will make him an excellent tutor.
