About John

I’m an assistant professor at the University of Colorado Boulder with a PhD in Spanish and Comparative Literature from Cornell University. I specialize in Latin American and U.S. Latinx literature, Indigenous studies, and border and migration studies. Over the past decade, I’ve taught a wide range of subjects—including Spanish language, academic writing, world literature, history, and ethnic studies—at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Core Focus (30–40 min): Deep dive into a central concept (e.g., narrative structure, grammar pattern, visual analysis) using exercises, discussion, and feedback. Active Practice (15–20 min): Guided application of concepts—through writing, problem-solving, or analysis. Wrap-Up & Next Steps (5 min): Recap key takeaways and assign a brief follow-up task or reading.
