About Mekayla
I am a passionate and dedicated tutor with a strong love for the humanities, languages, literature, and the arts. I believe learning should be engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. My goal is not only to help students improve their marks, but also to build confidence, critical thinking skills, and a genuine understanding of the subject matter.
I offer support in Drama, English, Latin, and History, drawing on both academic knowledge and a creative, student-centered teaching approach. Whether helping a student analyze literature, strengthen essay-writing skills, navigate Latin grammar and translation, or explore historical contexts and arguments, I aim to make complex concepts accessible and enjoyable.
As a tutor, I am patient, adaptable, and attentive to different learning styles. I understand that every student learns differently, so I create lessons that are supportive, interactive, and focused on individual goals — whether that means exam preparation, improving academic performance, or developing deeper subject understanding.
Students can expect professionalism, clear communication, and a positive learning environment where questions are welcomed and progress is celebrated.

My approach to private tutoring is rooted in clarity, curiosity, and confidence-building. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all teaching method; instead, I adapt each lesson to the student’s needs, learning style, and goals. Whether we’re working through a drama performance, essay writing, classical Latin, or historical analysis, I focus on helping students truly understand the material rather than memorizing it.
What makes my teaching style unique is that I combine structure with creativity. In Drama, for example, I incorporate voice work, movement, and interpretation exercises to help students embody text rather than just study it. In English and History, I emphasize critical thinking and argument-building, while in Latin I focus on making grammar and translation feel logical and accessible rather than overwhelming.
I am proficient in English and able to teach comfortably in English. I can also support students with terminology and academic language development where needed. My main focus is English Literary analysis.
A typical lesson with me includes targeted explanations, guided practice, interactive discussions, and regular feedback. I also provide strategies for studying independently so students can build confidence outside of lessons.
My lessons are aimed at students from beginner to advanced levels, including school learners needing support with exams, as well as students who want to deepen their understanding or improve their academic performance in Drama, English, Latin, or History.
