About Nancy
I am currently studying my History degree at Edinburgh University. I am very passionate about academics, and being at a Scottish university has allowed me to study multiple subject areas such as Archaeology, Biology, Politics and English Literature which highlights my passion for learning. Previous to this, I worked in an independent prep school as both a private resident tutor and assistant gap student where I accumulated hundreds of hours of tutoring experience across subjects ranging from Science to English and History.

My teaching style: In my current job assisting in science lessons at a prep school, I am aware that all students learn things differently and I am keen to apply different methods according to the confidence and skill level/ learning style of each student. I believe that when studying GCSE and A Level Biology, it is incredibly important to understand what exactly the exam board is asking of its candidates. For this reason I work closely alongside the specification using AQA specific resources to help my students. I use effective methods such as active recall facts, I suggest successful revision techniques and I will help each student understand what is required with specific exam board questions. I am aware that all students learn things differently and I am keen to apply different methods according to the confidence and skill level/ learning style of each student. My typical lessons: Typically my lessons will last 1 hour. In this time I will aim to go through specific topics, key words and always past paper questions specific to the AQA exam board specification. My qualifications: - 12 GCSE'S in grades 8/9 - A Level English Lit A* -A Level History A* -A Level Biology A* Employment: -Teaching: I am currently working as the resident boarding assistant at a preparatory and boarding school. In my job I assist and tutor students ranging from year 1 to year 8 in biology, chemistry and physics. I also tutor year 7 and 8 students to sit their common entrance exams in literature, maths and science. - Tutoring: My previous tutoring experience spreads across subjects including: maths, English, biology, chemistry and physics, ranging from primary school, GCSE and A Level.

I work with Nancy as a resident boarding assistant in a prep and boarding school and her skill level and experience when working with students is impressive. She takes a calm and clear approach and is always organised and prepared. Recently she has successfully tutored students in the 11+ exams which was very effective!
Nancy has a very good widespread knowledge of many areas regarding English including various classics and poetry, and her analysis is to such a high level. She has been an amazing tutor.
