About Taylor
Hi there! I'm Taylor, and I am currently in my final year studying Business and Marketing Management at Oxford Brookes University. I'm really passionate about helping students reach their full potential and grow in confidence. Throughout my A-Level studies I tutored students studying for their English Literature, English Language and Religious Studies GCSEs, with both students receiving 8's and 9's for these topics! I was awarded 9's at GCSE level for these subjects, and I believe that I would be able to use the skills I learnt through my tutoring experience and through my own studies to help you achieve your goals!

My lessons are designed for students aged 14-16 preparing for their GCSEs - I also have experience with primary and younger secondary school students through my nannying roles in the past. I am experienced in helping students who need support in grasping key concepts, improving their revision techniques, or building their confidence in subjects where they may struggle. My goal is to ensure that every student feels confident and prepared when it comes time to sit their exams!
Learning should be engaging and tailored to individual needs. My approach focuses on understanding the student's strengths and weaknesses and adapting my teaching to suit their learning style. I use a blend of interactive discussion, problem-solving, and real-life examples to make it fun and engaging!
Throughout my A-level studies, I tutored younger students, helping them prepare for their GCSE exams. Additionally, during my time as a nanny and babysitter, I provided homework help and revision support, further honing my teaching skills. Through these experiences and my own experiences of taking school exams, I have developed a strong understanding of the challenges students face, as well as the best strategies to overcome them. I also have experience tutoring and looking after children with special needs, ADHD, Asperger's and Dyslexia.
A typical lesson is between 1/2 hours, but can also be tailored to your needs, which will allow us to cover topics in-depth whilst keeping refreshed and focused!
My methodology involves:
- Breaking down complex concepts into smaller, manageable parts to ensure a deep understanding before moving on to more advanced topics.
- Active learning techniques such as quizzes, interactive exercises, and flashcards, which keep students engaged and reinforce their knowledge.
- Progress tracking and setting short-term goals so students can monitor their improvement and stay motivated.
- Promoting critical thinking, encouraging students to ask questions and approach problems from different angles to deepen their comprehension.
- Incorporating revision techniques, such as past papers and timed practice, to help students prepare effectively for exams.
