About Chidubem

I am an Undergraduate student who recently finished Sixth Form.

As I await my A-Level results, I hope to promote academic confidence, skill improvement, integrity and compassion in my students through our tutoring sessions. Providing a safe space for learning and future excellence.

From Years 7-11 I attended an IB (International Baccalaureate) World school, which established the principles of curiosity, academic endeavour and holistic thinking within my approaches to learning.
I used to struggle with exams, I had strong academic ability in classwork, homework and verbal lesson feedback, but when it came to exam conditions, my work was seemingly unrecognisable.
This all shifted as I approached my GCSE examinations in 2024. The fear of exams was ushered out by new confidence. This is the confidence I hope to establish in my students.
Instead of rereading notes, I intentionally deepened my understanding of the texts and concepts through audio-visual methods. Doing past paper questions and practice essays outside of set classwork became an integral part of my routine; this allowed me to combat running out of time under exam conditions, making writing second nature helps reduce exam pressure. Having a teacher to mark my finished practice, helped me improve as I used their constructive criticisms to progress. I used flashcards to cement sophisticated vocabulary and literary techniques into my writing.
By the end of my GCSE season, I achieved 10 GCSEs at grades 9-6, and was awarded an Academic Scholarship into my new Sixth Form.

Since Year 7 through to Year 13 I attended boarding school. Living with my classmates during term time, made communal revision a regular occurrence, alongside our afterschool extracurriculars and weekend activities. This cultivated an interest in helping my peers and younger students with homework and understanding tricky concepts from lessons.
I use my initiative and often extend my knowledge and skills to aid others' progress and work out their issues alongside them or persuade them constructively.
Whilst studying for my A-Levels (Chemistry, Geography and English Literature), I managed to balance sports, leadership roles (As a Prefect, Head of House and Colour Sergeant) with academic demands and social life.
I am an avid football fan, who enjoys listening to many genres of music from different decades. I love learning languages and understanding other cultures as well as my own heritage. I believe in learning about the wider world around me to become more informed and empathise with others.

Tutoring tailored to the student's academic needs, supporting their learning in school, whilst ensuring they gain confidence in their progress.
I believe that every student has potential; through structured sessions, curated around the student's goals and any gaps I have noticed in their knowledge, I strive to unlock the student's academic capabilities.

I teach using:
-Brainstorming techniques.
-Visual techniques (such as animations and clipart to bring texts and concepts to life).
- Concept walkthroughs.
-Text breakdowns (I suggest ideas, and encourage the student as they devise their own interpretations).
-Flashcards for keywords and processes.
-Flashcards for literary techniques and vocabulary expansion.
-Supervised practice essays which I will mark.
-The student is encouraged to produce piece(s) of writing outside of the session - I will mark their work.

I believe that progress is gradual- I don't expect the student to be perfect first time, but I do believe in setting appropriate challenges for the student- never throwing them into the deep end without my support.

Sessions are 1 hour

I have 10 GCSEs grades 9-6 with Grade 9 in English Language, Grade 8 in English Literature and Grade 7 in Geography.
I have also completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course.

Student levels: GCSE, Years 5-6, 11+, MYP, Secondary school Years 7-9

GCSE:
Lessons are to boost AQA GCSE English Literature revision (Analytical techniques and essay structure).
Lessons support creative writing and speech presentation for AQA GCSE English Language.
AQA and Edexcel B GCSE Geography practice question walkthroughs and key concept revision.
Year 5-6, 11+, MYP, Years 7-9:
To gain confidence in reading comprehension and creative writing.
