About Amelia
Hi I am Amelia, a second year undergraduate at Oxford studying Physics and Philosophy. I understand the struggle and stress of exams, and want to help you feel confident and interested in your subject. Whatever your current ability, I offer help to achieve your aims through well-structured, thorough, and friendly tutoring. I am a warm and approachable person with a deep interest in my subjects of study, but outside of academics I love athletics (running steeplechase), and playing my guitar!

Exams can be daunting and overwhelming so my aim is to help build confidence with material and a student's own abilities by having clarity in the end goal and creating a sense of progress throughout the lessons. In an initial session it is important to identify the student's prior knowledge by looking together at some foundational problems, and ask them about their general school experience to see how best they learn. From there, each lesson will target a new area, tailored to the respective exam board. I hope to be able to show creative ways of understanding problems to engage my students and promote long-term retention. Typically lessons are 1 hour long, split into recapping the previous session by going over set problems, teaching new material and going through questions step by step, before letting the student take the lead in solving exam problems. I have taught GCSE maths for a year, and have relevant teaching experience of coaching primary school children in cross country running. I am offering tutoring in GCSE and A-level Maths, Further Maths, and Physics for any level of ability. For those hoping to apply to Oxford for Physics/Physics and Philosophy/Engineering I also offer tutoring for the PAT.
